Hello! I’m Rose Barned, the creative spirit behind Bizarre Art. I was born in Dymchurch by the sea in 1963, right in the middle of that famously harsh winter when even parts of the sea froze! Though I didn’t grow up there, I like to think the sea breeze and frosty waves added a little sparkle to my creative soul.
I come from a big family – nine of us in total! My wonderful parents, Mr Godfrey Redford Judd and Winnie Rose Judd, certainly had their hands full. I’m the eldest daughter of three, and from a young age, I’ve always loved colour, texture, and finding joy in life’s little details.
Art has always been my happy place – a space where I can escape, express myself, and bring something a bit different into the world. Over the years, I’ve come to see painting as more than just a hobby or passion; it’s my timeless escape from life’s challenges.
I find inspiration everywhere – in nature, in laughter, and in the chaos of everyday life. My work celebrates freedom, fun, and colour, and I’m never afraid to be a bit bizarre, quirky, and bold with my choices. As I often say with a grin, “If I desire, I can paint till I faint!”
Every piece I create has its own personality and story. I love watching how a splash of colour or a swirl of paint can change the entire mood of a room – or a person!
For me, art is about making people smile and adding a touch of light-hearted joy to their day. The world can feel a little grey sometimes, and I like to think my paintings bring a burst of sunshine into someone’s life.
Each painting I create is unique, made with care, laughter, and a little bit of madness. There are no mass-produced prints here – just one-of-a-kind original art, ready to brighten homes near and far.
Bizarre Art is my way of sharing happiness through colour. Based in Maidstone, Kent, I sell my artwork worldwide to anyone who appreciates something fun, abstract, and beautifully different.
